Chris Mountain

Chris Mountain lives in North Bristol and has had a great interest in radio since childhood presenting for his family his own programmes on a tape recorder and a Dansette record player.

Chris was for some time programme planning chair at Bristol Hospital Radio where he presented a wide diversity of programmes. In fact he still keeps in touch by presenting for them occasional live classical music concerts from the Colston Hall and a regular Gospel Music Programme.

Within a busy life he has fitted in an Open University degree and loves travelling to far flung places such as Australia, New Zealand and Iran. If he is pushed he says his all time favourite country in the world is Bhutan but also says it’s the next one being planned or visited at the time. In February he is off to Southern India.

He believes that stations like ours can be a force for good in the community they serve and is happy to help in anyway he can to make Thornbury FM a continuing success.

Musically he has quite catholic tastes liking most music listening to it at least once before giving an opinion on its merits. He does however confess to hating “screeching female opera singers and heavy rock music” preferring the mellower sounds of Soul and Jazz.

Join Chris for the “The Smooth Lunch” every Tuesday at 12 for a show of relaxing mix of music, dedications and lifestyle interviews.

You can also find him with “The Jazz Session” at 8pm every Sunday where you can be assured of a great listen as Vintage tracks from the 20's to present day will be played.
