Peter Dobbins

Early English Music - Sundays 3.00pm

Peter Dobbins presents music from mediaeval to almost modern - the music, the history, the instruments and the musicians.

Find out what Early Music is like without even having to buy a ticket. Listen to Peter’s show to hear music and song using all kinds of wonderful instruments and in languages that might have been English at one time but can be unintelligible now.

The show will feature winter and Christmas music of all kinds - popular music, church music, courtly music, folk music, dance music, concert music and kinds of music you probably haven’t heard of, like West gallery music. There will be music from composers you might know, like Dowland and Purcell, and performed by artists you may be familiar with, like Lucie Skeaping. There will also be a lot that is completely new to you, but fear not, we think you will be pleasantly surprised to find you like a lot of it and want to hear more.

Peter was born and bred in North London, was a teenager in Dorset and ended up in Aust 19 years ago. For a day job he plays with sonar, underwater sound and dolphins. Off-duty he plays keyboards of all kinds, creates incidental music and sound effects for theatrical events and organises concerts for Acton Court and the highly successful Music in the Church at Aust.
