Philip Clarke
It's strange how your attitude to somewhere changes throughout your live. I was born and grew up in Thornbury, attending Crossways and Castle schools. But when I left to study in Birmingham, I was leaving behind my small town for something new and exciting. Ten years later after living and working in different parts of the country, I returned to Thornbury, but this time choosing to settle in Thornbury, with different priorities and expectations - and with changes in the town over that time, and the different people I was meeting, it felt as if I were moving to somewhere new that happened to be familiar, not returning home.
I run the community website www.thornbury.org.uk - and it was because of my technical interests that I got involved in the technical side of Thornbury FM, setting up the first version of the website and establishing the webcast so that we could be heard across the world. This time around though, I thought I'd try my hand at presenting.
Every Friday throughout May (6pm - 8pm), I'll be presenting The Movie Show on Thornbury FM. I'll be playing a mix of music from the movies - emotive movie scores and iconic tracks used in films. From classics, westerns, war movies, through action and fantasy films, to contemporary and cult movies, with some children's films and musicals thrown in for good measure. So whether you're a fan of Curtiz and Steiner, Spielberg and Williams, Tarantino soundtracks or Disney's songs - or just enjoy emotive music - I'll have plenty to keep you entertained.
