“I really admire the work you do and look forwards to the next broadcast.”
(Thornbury and district resident)
Once again, after our November/December 2007 broadcast, we have asked the local community what they think of Thornbury FM. Encouragingly, again the reaction was generally good. We received lots of positive feedback on the quality and scope of our programmes. People of the area seem to really appreciate our focus on the local community and they want it to continue.
For the first time, we asked people about whether Thornbury FM makes them more aware of what’s happening in their community, whether they were more likely to support local businesses and about Thornbury FM’s future plans.
The listener survey found that of those who responded:
* 65% said they listened to Thornbury FM at least once
* 71% said they were more aware of their local community because of Thornbury FM
* 70% said they were more likely or possibly more likely to buy from local businesses because of Thornbury FM
* 40% said they wanted Thornbury FM to broadcast more frequentlyThese results are all encouraging.
All of us at Thornbury FM remain committed to continuously improving the station’s output, diversifying its programming and its presenter profile, providing more opportunities for local people to participate, and continuing its community focus.
We realise that all of that requires hard work. We appreciate all the work done by the many who have participated in the past, as presenters, receptionists, other volunteers, guests and advertisers.
Thornbury FM seems still to be a venture appreciated by the local community. As one respondent put it: “I think it's a wonderful addition to Thornbury life. Thank you to all who make it possible.” That of course includes all of you, our members.
